The
Ludwig Super Classic Kit was the top of the line
drum kit offered by Ludwig in the 1960's.
Hundreds of these kits were sold to aspiring drummers.
But the classic configuration included a 22 inch
bass drum. The 20 bass drum was an option that most
purchasers passed on.
This kit, which has been in storage for over 30
years, has the 20 inch bass drum. The Supraphonic
400 snare drum is exceptionally clean and in great
shape for its age. All hardware is included in the
purchase price.

Jazz
great, Joe Morello, was often pictured behind a
silver sparkle Ludwig kit iwhen he played with Dave
Brubeck in the 60's. In fact, I never saw him playing
on anything else!!!
Joe
was Ludwig's number one endorser, at least on the
jazz scene, and he appeared constantly in Ludwig
drum ads in music magazines of the time. This kit
is from the mide sixties and it has the typical
white coated interior shells that were a trademak
of the brand

This
kit is wrapped in the famous "Ringo" finish,
also known as black oyster pearl.
Over
the years this wrap has gained popularity among
collectors and is highly prized. This particular
kit has the transition badge which means it was
made in 1959/60.
There
is very little wear on the wrap and surprisingly
little chaffing on the hoops. This is all the more
remarkable considering the kit is over 50 years
old.

Comments:
|
This
hollywood kit is from the mid 60's and is wrapped
in one of the rarest finishes of the time, Red Psychedelic.
The
bass drum mounts are original, but the spurs are
not. This finish changed slightly over the years.
This
is an early example of it. The kit shows some wear,
but is in very good condition.
