The Premier Royal Ace Snare Drum was the mainstay of the Premier Drum Company for many years. It was offered in many different finishes with the 5 x 14 being the most common. This model is the larger 6.5 model. It has Premier's unique parallel snare strainer that allows for extra sensitivity across the batter head. Comments:
To celebrate its 75 years in production, the Premier Drum Company offered a special commemorative
drum kit and snare drum. Only a limited number of drums were made. This drum is new old stock.
It has never been played. Suffice it to say, with its black lacquer finish, it's quite stunning.

Comments:
Many
Premier collectors consider the Signia line of drum
kits as the finest drums that Premier ever produced.
Premier
offered a choice of 9 different snare drums as options
on the Signia kit. The drums came in your choice
of steel, wood, or brass.
The
1036 was the steel shell model and it was one of
two models that were available in the 6.5 depth.

-
White Marine Pearl Wrap
-
Early 60's
-
Parallel Strainer
Comments:
The
Premier 4 x 14 Snare Drum was labeled the Super
4 in the Premier catalogs of the early 60's. It
was the only 4 x 14 snare drum of the time to have
a parallel strainer.
The
idea was to have the snare wires "float"
evenly across the snare head, providing consistent
pressure. Thus the drum would never sound choked,
or at least that was the theory. Actually in reality,
it worked quite well.
Like
all Premier drums of these times, the drum was very
solidly built and the chrome plating was second
to none.

Red Sparkle Wrap

Early 70's
Comments:
Premier,
the English Drum Company, made some fine snare drums
in the 60's and 70's. There were a number of finishes
offered and the chrome plating was second to none.
This model eventually became known as the 2000 series.
The drum was available in a wood or metal shell
and it was offered with die molded counter hoops.
The earlier models were made in metric sizes and
they were not cheap. In fact, this model was one
of the more expensive snare drums at the time.

Comments:
A
nice drum. This wrap tended to fade badly over
time. This particular drum is an exception.

This
drum was offered as a substitute for the top of
the line Premier 2000 snare drum. Unlike the 2000
which had a parallel mechanism, this drum has
a simple external snare strainer. The drum is
wrapped in a Green shimmer finish which is quite
rare.
Also, unlike earlier Hi Fi models which were 10
lug, this model has 8 lugs. The drum came in both
wood and metal versions, with the metal models
being easier to find.
